Privacy Policy
ErgLens · rowing.ppai-lab.com · Effective October 17, 2026 (previous version October 15, 2026)
Before you use the app we ask you to agree to the Terms of Service and to the collection and use of personal data in this policy (required). Statistics and research use (section 5) and news and event messages are optional; every feature works without them.
PPAI Lab collects only the information below through the rowing log app “ErgLens” on the web and on Android, and uses it only for the purposes listed. We show no ads, sell no personal information, and use no visitor analytics.
1. What we collect
- Kakao sign-in: your Kakao member number, nickname and profile picture. We do not receive your email address or phone number. If your profile picture is not Kakao’s default, we keep a copy of it.
- Google sign-in (if you use Continue with Google): your Google account ID, name and profile picture. We do not receive your email address. We keep a copy of your profile picture.
- What you enter: the name you use in the app, rowing records (date, distance, time, pace and similar), record photos, cheers, room and challenge details, and bug reports or suggestions with any attached photo. For record photos we also keep the numbers as first read, before you checked them (to improve the reading).
- Collected automatically: a sign-in cookie, server access logs (IP address, browser information, time of request), and a fingerprint (hash) of each record photo so the same photo is not saved twice.
- Finisher reviews (optional): the short survey after a challenge ends — the items you tick (fitness, habit, posture and similar), weight or waist change if you enter it (health data, separate consent), and any comment.
- Consent records: which items you agreed to or withdrew, and when (item, terms version, time).
- If you turn on KakaoTalk alerts: the Kakao token needed to send you KakaoTalk messages.
2. How we use it
- Signing you in and confirming it is you
- Saving records, showing challenge boards, and showing cheers
- Reading the numbers on a record photo
- Answering bug reports and suggestions, and sending KakaoTalk alerts if you turned them on
- Finding service errors and misuse, and keeping the same record from being saved twice
- [If you opt in] Statistics on exercise and its effects, and service research, from pseudonymised records (section 5)
- [If you opt in] Sending news and event messages
- [If you leave a finisher review] Showing reviews and their totals (people per item, average change) on the Regatta, without names
3. Who sees it
- Your name, profile picture and records are visible to people in the same challenge.
- Finisher reviews are visible to every user without your name or room. Weight and waist numbers appear only with their separate consent, and comments only after the operator has read them.
- If a challenge is shown on the Regatta, people in other challenges see only its name and how many are in it.
4. What leaves the app
- Google: sign-in, if you use Continue with Google; and when you upload a record photo, it is sent to read the numbers on the rowing monitor (Gemini API).
- Kakao: sign-in, and sending messages if you turned on KakaoTalk alerts.
- Telegram: bug reports and suggestions, with any attached photo, are sent to notify the operator.
- DigitalOcean (Singapore): where the server and data are. Your information is therefore stored outside Korea, in Singapore.
We give personal information to no one else, except where the law requires it.
5. Pseudonymised statistics and research (optional)
- Only the records of people who opted in are used. Names, Kakao and Google account IDs, profile pictures, record photos, and anything you wrote are removed and replaced with a random number before records are used for statistics on exercise and its effects and for service research. Dates are kept to the day only.
- The key linking the random number to the real account is kept separately, on the service's own server only.
- Results shown outside never include a group of fewer than 10 people. Pseudonymised records themselves are never sold or given to anyone.
- If you withdraw, you are left out of every analysis from then on. Every feature works without opting in.
6. Keeping and deleting
- Account information and records are kept while the account exists.
- You can delete your own records and record photos in the app at any time.
- Server access logs are deleted after 14 days.
- If you ask to join through an invite link before you have an account, we keep your Kakao or Google account ID and name until the room's organizer decides. With no decision in 7 days, we delete them. If declined, the name is deleted at once and the account ID after 7 days.
- When you turn KakaoTalk alerts off, the stored Kakao token is no longer used.
- Consent records and finisher reviews are kept while the account exists and are deleted with it.
- You can withdraw the optional consents (statistics and research, news and events) at any time in Me → Consent settings. Withdrawing a required consent is done by deleting the account (section 7).
7. Deleting your account
There are two ways to delete your ErgLens account and data.
- In the app: open the Me tab → Delete account at the bottom → Delete. Your account, records, record photos, cheers, bug reports, profile picture copy, Kakao token, consent records and finisher reviews are deleted immediately. A room you ran passes to its earliest-joined member.
- By email: send “Delete my ErgLens account” and the name you use in the app to ppai.lab.ppaceo@gmail.com. After confirming it is you, we delete the same data within 30 days and reply.
Copies of bug reports sent to the operator’s Telegram are deleted too; Telegram does not let messages older than 48 hours be deleted automatically, so the operator deletes those by hand. Backup copies on the server (which never leave it) are kept for at most 30 days and then deleted automatically. Server access logs are not deleted separately; they are deleted after 14 days. To disconnect the app on Kakao’s side, go to KakaoTalk Settings → Kakao Account → Connected Services; on Google’s side, go to your Google Account → Security → Third-party apps & services.
8. Children under 14
Children under 14 use the app only when a parent or guardian has agreed and installed it for them. A parent or guardian can ask to see or delete the child’s data at the address above.
